Tail Lights.
We sat on the swing and talked about the trees on the mountains and the colors of fall.
I asked what was on his mind and he said "stuff." Like always.
He told me his thoughts on our church meetings and the fireside, & then a little about us and the future.
He asked what I was thinking, and before I could say anything,
Two little tears rolled down my cheeks.
He wiped them away as quickly as they had escaped, and I whispered "this is hard."
He nodded his head in agreement and then he just held me.
"It is hard." he said, "But it's worth it."
We talked and cried and I stared into those brown eyes.
There's nothing worse than saying goodbye.
He kissed me on the forehead and told me he loved me one last time before he got in his car.
I stood on my porch and watched his tail lights disappear around the corner before walking inside.
2 hours later, and he's 125 miles away.
"How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard."
